Rule of thirds

The focus in this photo is that single tree which can be seen alone. This a rule of third photo because where the cars are , they sit on the horizon line. I recon i could have done better using a flat surface.

The cone stands out in this image , leaving the building on the horizon line. I like how this photo also has leading lines in it and looking at this photo you can recognize the cone.

Textured and Negative Space

This photo shows texture in the background which brings out the subject that is located on the side of the frame. I like this photo because because of that brick texture. The only thing that i dont like is the way i have placed the subject, but given the amount of space between me and the subject, i couldn't really get a full shoulder view of him.

 I can do better, just by moving my subject right into the frame.

I converted this image into Black and White because i like my photos black and white.

Taken and 1/8, i got the smoke effect which really doesnt muck up with the negative space that is visble behind the subject. I chose to go with a slightly low angle, to show that she is smoking.

I like how the background is black because you can see where the frame of her ace stops, so if she was against a white background, then things will look funny (to me).

I chose this photo because it was something that i always tried to do, but never got the result i wanted. I always wanted the detail on one side of an image i take, and this one was taken by this photographer who had used the mixture of leading lines, pattern and the negative space around the subjects head and bridge. I like how the photographer has shot this photo, especially where the subject is placed, the negative space brings out that detail. I also like the use of the pattern that is shown on the bridge, it doesnt give you that mood of looking at something boring. I like the composition in this photo.

Texture of the tree in the background really suits this image, with the two subjects in a tight frame it really goes, because to me their pose looks natural.

The use of that texture and leading line in the background makes this guy stand out. Composition is great because thirs not much detail where hes sitting. The background also shows how simple this photo is, because if he was against a texture that had detail in then he wouldnt stand out.

Week 7: Split lighting

Split lighting is something that i like very much, where only one light is only used to bring out an image like this. The lighting for this exercise was controlled by a light meter, which shows you how much of an apeture you need. This light metre sets the settings for you so you can just put these onto the camera settings.

Taking this photo i got the subject to stand in the centre and i made sure that only half of her face had light on and the other half was blacked out. We had quite a few difficulties where we couldn't get the lighting right and just needed that few inches of movement.

This photo doesnt show split lighting because of the black shadows that showing around her cheek area.

Week 6: Leading lines and Patterns

Leading lines

The photo shows the leading line in the fence and also on the roof which kind of leads your eyes to the stars. I like this photo because it was taken at a slow shutter , because it was taken at nght time.

This photo shows the line, of the foot path which makes it look like the subject is looking towards that area while lying down.

I like how the line is in the centre,  because it makes you look toward the road and its the first thing you see.

In this photo the chairs really stand out for me, not only because it lines up, but the fact that it leads you to the door you can see at the back. I also like how the lines of the chair on the left side leads into the bush.

This photo shows pattern in the sculpture that you can see one the right side. I like this photo because the sky brings out the pattern and also the trees behind it , where there are three also shows pattern.

I could have done better by moving back just to get the tip of the sky.

I like how this photo is diagonal giving that diamond look. I also like how it stands out from the sky and with the tree in the image, shows that this is located outside.

In this photo that i have taken shows the pattern on the golf basket, also the background which is out of focus, you can see that the lines are a pattern aswell.

I converted this into black and white using camera raw. I like the look of black and white, because i always decide on the colours in the photo whether i like it or not.

The house is located in the centre of the frame. The looks of this shot, the photographer could have gone a bit higher just to get this shot, instead of shooting from the ground directly onto the house.

There is a bit of land in the front, which gives a fair idea of how far back the photographer is standing.

PART2

"Worked with two tripods to avoid the slightest vibrations" - for the water towers. The only interesting thing that caught me was when they chose what kind of weather conditions they chose to shoot in.

Week 3: Low - High and Movement

Low angle with a shallow DOF.

This photo i tried to take using a shallow depth of field. It shows that it is a shallow depth of field, because the trees are out of focus and if the car wasn't in focus that she will just look wierd standing there.

I could have done better if i place my subject some where else.

High angle with a medium shutter speed.

Using a medium shutter speed at a high vantage view.

Person standing still with movement in the background.

This photo is when you set your camera on a tripod and have one person stand and get some movement happening in the background. I like this photo , because it shows what we needed to do. 

The only thing that i dont like about this photo is the composition of it and how the feet of the subject is out of the frame.

Week 3: Candid Photo

Candid photo: There was this moment where they were arguing about the work i had to do for this photography class. I captured this, moving myself to centre them in the frame and to give the feel of home, because of the surroundings around them.

Taking this photo was difficult, because i wanted to show the expression that i wanted in this photo. I experimented with what i wanted the viewers to see in this photo, whether i wanted to show the whole lounge or just these two subjects in the frame.

I liked the fact that two photos showed expression, but i wanted the happy feeling in them. 

I captured the moments of conflict, where they were arguing about the paper.

I could have done better just positioning myself, to show more of the left side, so that they will be on the side of the frame.

Experimentation with slow shutter: Art of light

Took this photo into camera raw and edited this to get the black in the background and then cropped the image to take away the legs.

I used the table outside to keep the camera stable.

Week 3: Shutter priority - The Art of Light (Tutorial)

I watched a tutorial on how to get this effect ut, doing it, i kind of knew how to do it. When i looked more into this tutorial, this man showed me what hes been working on , and something thati didnt quite understand about the tree that he was trying to get.

Lastnight i experimented with quite some stuff and drawings, and this is the one i like the most. Even having me far back in the frame i am also centred. This also gives the audience an insight of where abouts im standing!

I set the camera on the camera case to get on the same level as crouching down. Using this method, i took various photos to get the photo that i wanted. Here are some of the experiments that i have taken.

Week 2: Self directed shutter practices -

I used a faster shutter speed to get the effect of freezing movement.

Afew photos that i have taken didnt quite work because the subject kept going out of the frame.

I placed both subjects in the middle where i got my sister to flick her hair and brother to jump.
